Oman Air has proudly marked a significant milestone in its transformation journey with the launch of its inaugural flight connecting Muscat to Rome. The new service enhances connectivity between Oman and Europe, offering four weekly flights starting at just OMR 75 one-way. The inaugural flight departed from Muscat International Airport at 15:00 on 20 December, following a special ceremony attended by senior officials from Oman Airports and the Italian Embassy in Muscat.

Earlier this month, His Excellency Pierluigi D’Elia, Italian Ambassador to Oman, also met with Con Korfiatis, Oman Air’s Chief Executive Officer to commemorate the occasion and underscore the significance of the new routes for both nations.

In the context of the meeting, the ambassador emphasized the deep and enduring relationship between the two nations, highlighting the strong diplomatic, cultural, and economic ties that have flourished over the years. He expressed pride in the collaboration between Italy and Oman, noting that the new direct flight service would further strengthen these bonds. The ambassador underscored the significance of enhanced connectivity, particularly in facilitating smoother travel between the two countries. This direct link between Rome and Muscat, he noted, would open new doors for tourism and business, making travel more accessible for both Omani and Italian citizens, as well as tourists and investors from around the world, contributing to the growth of both countries' tourism and trade sectors.

Con Korfiatis also commented that Rome builds on the strong relationship Oman Air has nurtured with Italy over the past 13 years through its Milan route, exemplifying the airline’s commitment to enhancing connectivity between Oman and Italy, fostering deeper economic, cultural and tourism links, while offering more opportunities for travellers to experience the unique beauty of both destinations. As Oman Air continues to grow its network, he added, it remains dedicated to connecting Oman with the world, and the world with Oman.

Guests can fly with Oman Air from Muscat to Rome on its B737 Max 8 on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The outbound flight departs from Muscat at 1500 and arrives in Rome at 1930, while the return flight departs from Rome at 2030 and arrives in Muscat at 0545.
