Highlighting its commitment to supporting local businesses, Oman Air marked the country’s 54th National Day by hosting more than 30 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) for a vibrant celebration at its headquarters. After a special flag-raising ceremony conducted by members from Oman Scouts, staff were treated to an array of products showcasing Omani heritage and cuisine, including traditional crafts, artisanal food items and locally made clothing. The event not only served as a celebration of Omani culture but also provided an opportunity for employees to engage with the community and support local entrepreneurs.

“As an ambassador of Oman to the world, Oman Air flies the Omani flag with immense pride. We’re wholeheartedly dedicated to supporting Oman’s 2040 Vision, whether its promoting tourism, increasing inward investment or prioritising local businesses,” said Con Korfiatis, Chief Executive Officer of Oman Air. “In the spirit of National Day, our event underscored our commitment to promoting Omani SMEs, serving as a celebration for our staff and strengthening our ties with the community.”

The initiative is part of Oman Air’s broader strategy to contribute to In-Country Value (ICV) by prioritising local sourcing and fostering partnerships with homegrown businesses. The airline collaborates with more than 30 Omani SMEs and over 200 local suppliers, many of which provide products and services integral to its operations, including cabin crew uniforms, in-flight meals and amenities, and general supplies. Through its Vendor Development Programme, Oman Air also supports SMEs in improving their capabilities, contractual performance and product development. Once onboarding them, the airline helps them to scale their products and measure their performance, with the goal of a long-term contract.
